Toy Story 5 Teaser Pits Woody and Buzz Versus a Tablet Computer
It has been 30 anniversary since the first Toy Story film debuted, launching Pixar as a leading film company and introducing viewers to beloved figures like the cowboy doll (the actor) and the space ranger (Tim Allen), who are now famous worldwide.
In 2026, the next chapter is set to arrive. The initial preview for Toy Story 5 appeared recently, providing a brief look into the plot but leaving viewers wondering how it will address the conclusion of Toy Story 4.
The Latest Addition: A Digital Device Frightens the Toys
The preview shows Bonnie — who received the toy collection when he grew up — getting a latest plaything, one that terrifies the familiar toy group. Bonnie acquires her initial digital gadget, and she is thrilled about it.
Theoretically, the amphibian-inspired device will come to life just like the rest of her playthings. However, the toys seem to view it as a danger coming to replace them, which it likely will.
Woody's Return: Mysteries from Toy Story 4
An element the trailer avoids is why the sheriff is back with his companions in the child's bedroom. The end of Toy Story 4 depicted him set off on a new adventure with Bo Peep (the actress), journeying with a fair and helping prize toys locate loving owners.
Certainly, the filmmakers will explain the aftermath of Toy Story 4 in the movie. Seeing him show up in the familiar setting without warning is a little strange, however. It also makes us wonder whether his partner will have returned with him. And what about the stuntman toy (Keanu Reeves)?
Continuity from the Previous Film
Fortunately, some elements are carrying over from the prior film. The final act Woody did before departing for his new life was hand over his sheriff badge to Jessie (the voice actor), leaving her as the leader of the toy domain. In the teaser displays the insignia attached to her shirt.
It is hoped she is still the driving force among the group.
Toy Story 5 arrives in theaters on June 19, 2026.
