Zohran Mamdani Vows a 'Fresh Chapter' for New York City in First Speech
In a first day in the mayor's office, Zohran Mamdani committed to “reinvent” New York City, ushering in “a different age” and an ambitious start to his term.
A Groundbreaking Mayor
The 34-year-old political star, who just a year ago remained a relatively obscure state assemblyman, has become the city's first mayor of South Asian descent. He also made history by being the inaugural to be take the oath of office using the Qur'an.
